img254
An Post (Ireland) celebrated the Christmas season  by issuing a special stamp set on November 7, 2008. The issue stamps depict three scenes  from the Nativity, in  a style each originally painted and designed by James Hanley, RHA.

The three scenes depicted in a style inspired by traditional crib figures  in related with the Christmas Season.

In the 55c stamp, self adhesive stamp, represented perhaps the powerful image of Christmas , the baby Jesus in a manger.
