Christmas 2011 – Latvia

To celebrate Christmas, Latvia Post has released two new, beautiful and jovial stamps in the Christmas series. on November 30, 2011.

The cheerful Christmas themes in the new stamps of the Christmas series has depicted by the well-known artist Ludis Danilāns . 

 

 

The stamp with a denomination of LVL 0.35 shows Father Christmas with a hole in his gift bag, and his faithful friend - reindeer Rudolph. The print run is 2,000,000 stamps, and stamps with this face value can be used to mail a regular letter within the territory of Latvia.

The stamp with a denomination of LVL 0.60 depicts the main symbol of 2012 - the dragon, who this time is helping Father Christmas bring presents to children and grown-ups around the world. The print run of these stamps is 300,000; stamps of this denomination can be used to mail an international letter to any country outside the European Union.

 
 
Along with the new Christmas stamps, Latvia Post has also released a holiday envelope and special cancellation. The first-day cover depicts a huge dragon in a sled - the herald of 2012 - and Father Christmas with a gift bag. The special cancellation is a graphical depiction of a reindeer.
