Christmas 2010–Bulgaria

In celebrating of the Christmas Season 2010, Bulgaria Post  has issued  one stamp  features Santa Claus’s face  in graphical  drawing on December 19, 2010.

Santa Claus is generally depicted as a portly, joyous, white-bearded man - sometimes with spectacles - wearing a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots (images of him rarely have a beard with no moustache).

Christmas 2012 – Slovenia

To make the celebration of Christmas Time 2012, Slovenia Post issued a set of two self-adhesive stamps  feature the Christmas spirit. The issue stamps depict ‘Angelic singing heard in the heights’ and ‘Škofja Loka rural Nativity scenes’.

The celebration of Christmas, the birth of Christ,became established by the mid-4th century, and along with Easter it now represents one of the biggest Christian festivals.

The celebration of Christmas is therefore a much more recent custom than that of Easter, and represents an important family festivity marking the birth of Christ.

Christmas also marked the start of the year, and it was only Pope Innocent XII in 1691 who set 1 January as the beginning of the year, while 25 December remained Christ’s birthday.

Christmas Tree Decorations – Jersey

 

A set of six stamps issued by Jersey Post depicts a selection of Christmas tree decorations on November 08, 2011. The stamps have designed by Colleen Corlett.  

Modern materials combine with enduring designs to ensure that these decorations remain an indispensable part of festive celebrations.

 

 

 

 

 

Adults and children alike take great pleasure in decorating the tree at Christmas, an activity which dates back hundreds of years. 

The stamps feature a variety of lights, garlands and baubles including bells, an angel and, of course, Father Christmas himself. 

 

 

Christmas 2010 - Iceland

Iceland Post celebrated the Christmas Season 2010 by issuing a set of two stamps which have been designed with a graphic technique called copper edging on November 4, 2010.

The design is based on the Advent wreath.The main theme is the circular form in the colors of winter, the circle also symbolizing the earth, its seasons and infinity.

On one stamp the circle is covered with snow crystals, on the other with snow flakes. Interwoven with the theme on both stamps are the Icelandic birds of winter, the snow bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis).

Christmas 2012 – Christmas Islands

 

Australia Post  on behalf of Christmas Islands   celebrate the Christmas Time 2012 by issuing a miniature  sheet consist of two stamps feature Santa Claus is making the Christmas Party.

 

The $ 1.60 stamp presents Santa Claus is decorating Christmas tree with many assistant Red Crabs  which  are endemic crab of Christmas Islands.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sea Christmas 2012 - Åland

Åland Post celebrated the Christmas Season 2012 by issuing a stamp feature  typically Åland features on October 09, 2012.

Finnish artist Minna L. Immonen created this year's Christmas stamp, combining a traditional Christmas motif with typically Åland features.

Minna describes the Åland Christmas stamp in this way: "Inspired by the sea, the motif still has a Christmassy accent. The motif on the first day cover symbolizes the arrival of Christmas mail."

Minna L. Immonen has been drawing since childhood, focusing on painting since her senior school days. Having completed an education as a graphic designer and attended various art schools, she started her own company Minna-Kortti in the 1980s.

Christmas 2007 – San Marino

 
 

Christmas is a moment of the year when past and present merge, and adults and children find harmony and peace. The stamp series issued by the Republic of San Marino on 3rd December 2007, revisits images that are true symbols of Christmas combining the sacred and the profane.

The € 0.60 stamp shows the Palazzo del Governo silhouetted against the sky with a shining star of the Magi and, on the right, a Christmas tree brightening the dark Christmas night.

 

The € 0.65 stamp shows Santa Claus, the symbol of sweetness and generosity in children’s imagination, who darts through the sky with his reindeers and sleigh to bring presents.

 

The € 0.85 value shows the Holy Family, a symbol of all Christian families, on the background of the Three Towers of San Marino covered with snow.

Tokelau Christmas 2012

 

On November 21, 2012, Tokelau Post celebrate Christmas by issuing a set of three gummed stamps featuring Santa Claus.

The denominations stamps are 45c, $2.00 and $3.00  in se-tenant set.

Christmas Tree Decoration - Gibraltar

Gibraltar Post has celebrated the 2009 Christmas season by issuing a set of five stamps depict some beautiful tree decorations on November 12, 2009. The custom of erecting a Christmas tree and decorating it dates back 500 years to 16th Century Germany.

Trees were originally decorated with candles to represent life in winter and light in darkness in much the same way as the birth of Jesus brings light and hope to humanity. Santa Claus is a commonly used figure. Candy canes, fruit, animals, snowmen, angels and snowflake imagery are also popular choices.

The modern-day mold-blown colored glass Christmas ornament was originally invented in the small German town of Lauscha in the mid-19th century.
