Christmas Party at Christmas Island

Australia Post on behalf of Christmas Island issued a set of two stamps feature Santa Claus  on October 28, 2011. The issue stamps depict Santa Claus  come into Christmas Island  to held a  Christmas party.

The modern perception of the character of Father Christmas was greatly influenced by Thomas Nast, a cartoonist with Harpers Weekly, who published a drawing of Santa Claus in 1860.

This was a portly figure with white hair and a long beard, dressed in a red robe and wearing a crown of holly, holding a long clay pipe similar to that of Sinterklaas.

Christmas 2011–San Marino

On the 11th October 2011 , San Marino Post issued  one souvenir sheet composed of four stamps  depict the Christmas Nativity story

The stamp has designed by Cristian Ceccaroni and released  with amount of 70.000 souvenir sheets.  The values of  stamps are € 0,85-1,00-1,50 and 2,50 .

This souvenir sheet summarizes the foundations of the Nativity; the family with Joseph, the Virgin Mary and child, the majesty of the newborn, the homage of the Magi, the Star of Bethlehem that guided the visitors, the exultant of the heavenly choir of angels, the symbolic appeal of the ox and the ass and the light that sallies forth from the divine,  “light to illumine the people …” on the Christian Way. Mount Titano also takes part in this great celebratory day of Christmas

The Holly Family - NAVIDAD 2011 - Spain

On the third of November 2011, Espana Post issued  a set of two stamps, one depicting the sculpture of the Holy Family with the baby Jesus beginning to walk, by Spanish artist Luisa Roldán (1654-1704), whilst the other stamps features a neoclassical version of the Holy Family by painter J. Carrero.

 
 

Luisa Roldán, popularly known as La Roldana, is the daughter and disciple of the famous Sevillian sculptor, Pedro Roldán. In this sculptural composition, she has skillfully captured the concept which emanates a unique and overwhelming sensibility.

Among her favourite subjects are the Nativity, the Flight to Egypt and this piece representing the Holy Family with the baby Jesus beginning to walk. It belongs to the funds of the Provincial Museum in Guadalajara.

The second stamp also represents the Holy Family and is a composition by painter J. Carrero taken from an original work of his in colour pencil and oil. The artist makes a personal interpretation with classical resonances to shape the characters of the Virgin, Child and St. Joseph.






Christmas 2012 – San Marino

To celebrate Christmas Season, San Marino Post  issued a stamp dedicated to nativity painting by Marco Ventura on  16th October 2012. 

The oil painting represents “Madonna con bambino” (Our Lady with Child), in the background there is the Mount Titano of San Marino. The two archangels seem to protect the family sacredness.

Christmas 2011 - Ukraine

The Ukrainian State Enterprise of Posts issued a set of two stamps feature the famous images in relation with the Christmas Season on December 2011 to celebrate the Christmas and Happy New Year 2012. The  issue stamps depict Father Christmas, and Christmas festival in Ukraine.


Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various Christmas decorations, including Christmas trees, Christmas lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly.

In addition an  very closely  figures, known as Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas , are associated with bringing gifts to children during the Christmas season and have their own body of traditions and lore.

New Zealand’s Christmas 2012

New Zealand’s Christmas 2012 stamps  represent traditional story which have reflected on the Nativity story at Christmas time.  The  stamp set released on  October  3, 2012  in many forms, five gummed and three self-adhesive stamps.

The stamps have a uniquely New Zealand touch, with a pohutukawa motif framing each of the intricately illustrated images. Each stamps tells part of the nativity story.

The 70 c stamp shows Mary and Joseph with the newborn baby Jesus.

The $ 1.40 stamp features the shepherds who were tending their flocks nearby.

The five gummed stamps are beautiful reminder of the meaning behind Christmas, and the reason  we all celebrate with friends and family on every 25 December.











Christmas 2011 – Latvia

To celebrate Christmas, Latvia Post has released two new, beautiful and jovial stamps in the Christmas series. on November 30, 2011.

The cheerful Christmas themes in the new stamps of the Christmas series has depicted by the well-known artist Ludis Danilāns . 

 

 

The stamp with a denomination of LVL 0.35 shows Father Christmas with a hole in his gift bag, and his faithful friend - reindeer Rudolph. The print run is 2,000,000 stamps, and stamps with this face value can be used to mail a regular letter within the territory of Latvia.

The stamp with a denomination of LVL 0.60 depicts the main symbol of 2012 - the dragon, who this time is helping Father Christmas bring presents to children and grown-ups around the world. The print run of these stamps is 300,000; stamps of this denomination can be used to mail an international letter to any country outside the European Union.

 
 
Along with the new Christmas stamps, Latvia Post has also released a holiday envelope and special cancellation. The first-day cover depicts a huge dragon in a sled - the herald of 2012 - and Father Christmas with a gift bag. The special cancellation is a graphical depiction of a reindeer.

Christmas 2008 – Ireland

An Post (Ireland) celebrated the Christmas season  by issuing a special stamp set on November 7, 2008. The issue stamps depict three scenes  from the Nativity, in  a style each originally painted and designed by James Hanley, RHA.

The three scenes depicted in a style inspired by traditional crib figures  in related with the Christmas Season. 


In the 55c stamp, self adhesive stamp, represented perhaps the powerful image of Christmas , the baby Jesus in a manger.

The 55 c stamp features the Flight in to Egypt. Following a  warning from an angel, Joseph takes Mary and Jesus to safety in Egypt.

The 82 c stamp features the Annunciations, when the angel Gabriel visited Mary in Nazareth and announced to her that she would give birth to Jesus.

Christmas 2007 of Ireland

Since 1971 An Post ( Ireland) has released  a set of stamps  that imaginative and colorful to celebrate the Christmas festive season. The Christmas stamp don't just carry mail, but they remind of all the things to the Christmas meaning.

On November 8, 2007, An Post released a set of three stamps that depict the traditional images associated with Christmas. The issue stamps are based on original illustrations, produced in acrylics.

The Classical images are shown on stamp, the Presentation  in  the Temple ( 78c), the Magi (55c) and the Adoration of the Shepherds (self adhesive –55c).

The stamps being issued for the 2007 season continue a time honored custom which not just pleased the eye, but warm the heart as well.
